Creatives join the RAD Tour

Playwright John Romeril joined Friends of the Earth’s Radioactive Exposure (RAD) Tour in April 2014 as part of his creative research with Nuclear Veteran Avon Hudson. The RAD Tour takes place each year, usually in April, and visits key Australian nuclear and atomic related sites.

Avon is a regular presenter on the RAD Tour and this year’s trip offered John the opportunity to hit the road with Avon as part of the creative research process. The research informs the script development of a new theatre play John is working on, exploring British atomic bomb tests in Australia in the 1950s and 1960s. The community arts and script development process is one of projects being undertaken through the Nuclear Futures program.

Long-term RAD enthusiast, Photomedia Artist Jessie Boylan, also joined the RAD tour. Part of the core Nuclear Futures creative team, Jessie was able to document the script development process along the way. Jessie is also a member of the Atomic Photographers Guild.
